Join us on June 8 as we celebrate 140 years of working with children and families in Illinois, as well as our new identity as Brightpoint, during our Breaking Barriers breakfast, featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Nicholas Kristof. Nick is the Co-Author of Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope and Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide. We could not be more pleased to have him join us!
In Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope, he argues that we cannot allow social capital and economic mobility to be predicted by race and zip code, and that we have the know-how to begin reversing alarming trends unfolding for American families. What a powerful way to underscore our commitment (and new mission) to disrupt the systemic and multi-generational cycle of racial, social, and economic inequality.
