Early Start – Parents as Teachers
We offer a community-based program to assist families with infants to develop positive parenting skills.
We offer a community-based program to assist families with infants to develop positive parenting skills.
Our home visitors offer families guidance during and after pregnancy to improve child health and family wellbeing, nurture positive parenting skills, connect families with others in their community who are parenting young children, and link families to community resources—from assistance with basic needs to medical care.
Low-income Families with Infants
The Early Start program recognizes the unique role of parents as their child’s primary nurturers and advocates. For this reason, parents are active participants in the Early Start program. The program also makes a special effort to encourage and support the role of fathers in parenting activities.
Early Start is free of charge and provides a number of services including:
McLean, DeWitt, Piatt, Winnebago and Stephenson Counties
