The Brighten a Family program (formerly Adopt a Family) has been providing families with assistance during the holiday season for over 40 years. The program provides families with personal clothing needs, as well as a “wish list” item or two. Last year, this holiday tradition helped more than 200 families in the Bloomington-Normal area.
Shop For a Child or Family
You will be provided with a list of for an individual or family to shop for. You’ll purchase new items from the list and deliver them unwrapped to the Wrapping Center.
Email Laura Cordero lcordero@brightpoint.org to be matched with a child or family.
Donate Most Needed Items
For example: diapers, toys, socks, underwear, clothing, etc. These items can be used for a profile where a donor was not able to completely fill the needs of the family or for families who were not able to be matched with a donor.
Provide a Monetary Donation
Funds raised for the program are combined to provide for families who have not been sponsored or for those who may have excessive needs. Any excess funds at the end of the program are used throughout the year to help families when no other source of funding is available.
Donors are notified of the location upon receiving a family or child profile.
The Wrapping Center is open October 31 – December 13. The hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
